I was excited to buy a new silicone dildo. It was a hot pink color and seemed perfect for my desires. Little did I know, my new toy had a rough, textured surface. I couldn’t figure out why my dildo was so rough! I was confused, and not sure what to do.

Fortunately, there are ways to make the dildo much smoother – there are even a few creative options. Rubbing it down with a non-toxic, non-GMO cornstarch is a great way to soothe the surface. Other people have even been successful by freezing their dildos for a few hours to make them extra smooth.
Perhaps the easiest solution, however, is to use a water-based lubricant when using the dildo. Not only will it make it feel slick and pleasurable, it will help protect the skin from any potential roughness – kind of like applying a moisturizer on your skin!
I was relieved to figure out the source of the problem with my dildo, and now I felt much better about using it. I could take extra safety precautions, such as using lube, and enjoy my new toy to its fullest.

I next wanted to explore other potential solutions. A few people had suggested washing the toy in hot, soapy water to get rid of the roughness. I gave it a try, and it worked; however, it felt a bit too soapy and rough for my taste.
I decided to try out a different method – coating the toy with a silicone-based lubricant. This seemed to make a huge improvement. After a few wipes with a clean cloth, my toy felt softer and smoother than ever.
Just for good measure, I decided to add some additional lube to make sure it stayed that way. I used a trace amount of extra lube before I used the toy each time, just to make sure the surface stayed smooth and lubricated.
It worked like a charm. Now, each time I used the toy, it was always smooth and pleasurable. Best of all, I hadn’t had any issues with irritation, tears, or discomfort due to its roughness. Win!
Now I keep the silicone lube nearby when I play, just in case the toy ever gets rough again. It’s a real lifesaver. I also feel incredibly grateful that I was able to find a quick and easy solution that helped turn my toy from disagreeable to downright amazing.
